On October 22-25, 2018, CIPS Operator attended the 40th SWIFT International Banker’s Operation Seminar (known as Sibos) by invitation in Sydney. This year Sibos with “Enabling the digital economy” as the theme, discusses financial market infrastructure, technological innovation, network security, compliance regulation and other issues which concerned by financial institutions, focuses on new developments and trends in global payment and clearing, message standards, and information on security and compliance concerns of financial market institutions. At the Sibos Conference, Cross-border RMB business and new functions of CIPS (Phase II) have attracted extensive attention.
On the 23rd Oct, CIPS Operator held a CIPS Community Session with “CIPS 2.0: Connecting the world” as the main topic. Panelists from The People's Bank of China Payment and Settlement Department, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), China Construction Bank (CCB) and Citibank joined in this session and shared their distinctive insights into CIPS system and Cross-border RMB business. The nominated Chairman of CIPS Operator, Yue LI, briefly reviewed the development of the Cross-Border Interbank Payment System (CIPS) and the latest situation of company’s capital increasing. Nearly 150 people participated in the session. The session comprehensively introduced the function improvement of CIPS (phase II), showed the development thinking of CIPS Operator unswervingly implement diversification, internationalization and marketization after introducing new shareholders, also deepened communication and exchanges with international financial industry.
At Sibos, CIPS Operator attended several other events such as “Asia Pacific Payments Roundtable Meeting”, “Payments MI ISO 20022 Summit”, had panel discussions with CIPS participants such as ICBC, CCB and China Central Depository & Clearing Co., Ltd., the supplier like IBM, and also visited booths of related financial institutions.
